We have customers in Canada, USA and many other countries around the world. At times we are asked about country of origin/country where development is done, and have started to provide that below to the best of our understanding, usually relying on claims by the owner, a couple are hard to pin down and probably have international contributors. Let us know of any errors or suggested alternatives we should provide (and whether you want to be credited for your contribution.)

Some general software
- MS Office, LibreOffice and OnlyOffice. Currently https://www.onlyoffice.com/desktop is the one we have had the best success with as far as MC-Office compatibility. To be fair, LibreOffice has been improving dramatically. Prior to Nov 2025 we almost always used MS Office. Nov 2025 started using LibreOffice as the primary - but in March 2026 ran into several formatting issues in docx and xlsx that were not a problem in OnlyOffice, as a result, my primary use of OnlyOffice started in April 2026 after some testing.

General and LLM AI
Canada is renowned for novel research and foundational algorithms, but compute power wise the USA dominates the AI space as of 2026. The author of this document, a Canadian, first started working with AI in 1980 - it has been around for a very long time. ChatGPT 3.5 made it top of mind outside of the computer technical area. Note that the number on that is 3.5 not 1.0.
