Upgrade
Side by Side or 'in place'

Accruent MC

Side-by-Side, generally the best for anything other than 'minor' MC upgrades

  • minimizes down time (on average)
  • lowers the risk of longer downtime and having to redo if there are problems
  • at the cost of 'if everything goes well in INCREASES human time, customer IT and/or our Professional Services.
  • Lets you upgrade Server OS and/or SQL Server without worrying about compatibility with the old (your existing), you only have to worry about compatibility with the new.

In Place

  • increases down time (so should be done after hours if possible),
  • increases the risk of long down time or having to put things back and start over
  • at the benefit that it DECREASES (on average) human time, customer IT and Professional services.
  • You can ONLY upgrade the server and/or SQL Server if BOTH versions of MC (your current and the new) support the new OS & SQL Server

Maintenance Connection Everywhere MCe

unless you are doing a massive upgrade, in place is usually great. MCe versions are compatible with a wide range of OS and SQL Server versions. If a specific version has a problem, we will document that in the release notes with whatever relevant notes there are.
